Digital identity leader Authsignal has announced the launch of its Palm Biometrics Identity Experience (IdX) Terminal solution, marking a significant advancement in secure authentication. Developed in collaboration with MATTR and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., the first application of the solution is a seamless binding of ISO-compliant mobile driver's licenses with palm biometrics, establishing new customer experience standards for identity verification, payments and access control.
The Palm Biometrics IdX Terminal solution joins Authsignal’s identity suite, extending digital identity from online experiences to in-person experiences through trusted devices, said Authsignal founder Justin Soong. “Palm biometrics is versatile, accurate and offers better security and reliability than other biometric modalities. Our Palm Biometrics IdX Terminal enables implementation of robust identity verification with an effortless user experience.”
Developed in collaboration with MATTR, Authsignal’s IdX solution binds ISO-compliant mobile driver's licenses with palm biometrics and sets new standards in customer experience for identity verification, payments and access control. MATTR’s mDocs Proximity Verifier SDK enables the Authsignal IdX Terminal to securely verify ISO 18013-5-compliant mobile driver's licenses (mDLs). Using bluetooth, it ensures seamless, privacy-focused credential verification, preceding the IdX palm biometrics enrolment process,
"Authsignal’s collaboration with MATTR is just the start of our work focused on revolutionising how people engage with digital credentials in the physical world, while ushering in a new era of interactions defined by confidence and convenience."
“We’re bringing the convenience of digital credentials to the physical world,” continued Soong. “It means fewer items in your already diminishing or entirely vanished wallet, greater ease, and complete avoidance of the old problem of a lost or stolen driver’s license. It’s literally convenience in the palm of your hand, using the palm of your hand for secure identity verification.”
The Palm Biometrics IdX Terminal incorporates Authsignal’s authentication orchestration, unlocking additional use cases including payment initiation with a simple last mile integration model. Terminal software can be white-labeled and deployed to compatible Android hardware, allowing integration with existing payment, loyalty and access control systems.
"This collaboration between Authsignal and MATTR represents a significant step forward in bridging the gap between digital and physical identity verification," said Luke McIntyre, CPO at MATTR. "Together, we're creating solutions that make digital identity more accessible and secure than ever before."
Early adoption use cases demonstrate the terminal's versatility, from streamlining age verification at venues to enabling secure access control at corporate facilities. The solution's ability to initiate payments adds another layer of functionality, making it suitable for businesses modernising identity and payment infrastructures.
The Authsignal IdX solution is powered by the Qualcomm® QCS6125 processor, utilizing an industry-leading hardware chipset platform.
